Heart Healthy Whole Wheat Pita Bread

Published on November 19th, 2009no comments

I was looking for a healthy alternative to buying pre-made pita bread from the store and I found a few recipes I really liked. I ended up kind of taking some of the ideas I found and creating my own little recipe and cooking method. The part that takes the longest is letting the dough rise! Everything else is fun and isn’t too time consuming. Not to mention a couple hours of your time produces plenty of pita bread for the week. Try it! :)

Here’s what you’ll need:

1 Packet Yeast (quick rise)

1 cup plus a little more warm water

Pinch of Sugar

2 Cups Whole Wheat Flour

1 Cup All Purpose Flour

1 Tsp Salt

1 Tsp Olive Oil

———-

Here’s what you’ll need to do:

Mix the warm water, yeast and sugar together and let it sit for about 20 minutes in a warm place.

Mix the flours and salt in a big mixing bowl, then slowly add the liquid while stirring the mixture. Add the oil and mix until it forms a ball (add drops of water until the ball of dough is kneadable). Start kneading the ball until it’s smooth and pliable, then put it in a plastic bag or cover the mixing bowl with plastic wrap and let it sit until it grows about twice in size (consider putting it on top of the TV or your PC… it really helps speed the process along!).

Once the dough is ready, just plop it out on a lightly floured sheet pan size piece of plastic wrap or wax paper, and then pull apart small fists full of the dough, rolling each piece into a small ball.

Fire up your frying pan to medium heat and let it warm up for about 3 minutes. Take your first ball of dough and simply start pushing it out with your hands to make a small, thin mini pizza looking piece of dough.

Throw it on your hot frying pan and cover the pan with a lid or foil (just throw a piece of foil on the top to help keep heat and steam in, no need to fit it on there). After 2 minutes, flip the bread over and put the top/foil back on for another minute or so (until both sides show evidence of browning). Take the bread out of the pan, put it inside a plastic bag or under a towel (to let it rest without getting hard) and repeat until done!

———-

There you have it… easy, heart healthy pita bread you can use for tons of stuff. We use them for breakfast with scrambled eggs, we use them for dessert with a little smart balance butter and cinammon, we use them for ceaser salad pita sandwiches- the options are limitless which makes them an all around good choice. Enjoy!

Why Content Marketing is Crucial to Success

Published on November 9th, 2009no comments

While traditional marketers become frustrated with their antiquated methods, those making real money are making the most of content marketing. The more ‘netpreneurs dabble in content marketing, the more they see how effective it truly is.

 What is Content Marketing?

Content marketing generally means using the written word to sell a product. Nearly any written content intended to influence potential customers without a hard sell is considered content marketing, including SEO and PLR content. It is the most important part of any online business and therefore it’s essential to learn to use content marketing effectively.

Some Forms of Effective Content Marketing

Newsletters and ezines are perhaps the best example of content marketing. When executed well, a newsletter and/or ezine can inform your reader about your product while subtly insinuating the benefits of your product or service. Using the ‘soft sell,’ the reader may not even notice that she is being influenced to buy your product.

Reports are another excellent way of content marketing. A free custom report on a product you are promoting can increase your conversion rates by up to eighty percent!

Nearly any kind of written content can become marketing content if it offers valuable information while influencing prospective buyers. Think big, act big, dream big and chances are you’ll reap the rewards. Consider email marketing campaigns, how-to guides, products reviews, blog and forum comments. I found a really cool website that offers tons of content marketing information. Check it out!

I didn’t post the videos with the previous pictures of Black and White Night and the Veterans’ Parade, but I got a couple good ones:

Thisis the Hilo Men’s Choir at the Palace Theatre on Black and White night… a really loud car came running up the street and set off another car’s alarm, kinda ruined the song a bit!

These are from the Veterans’ Parade:
